Syrah - Finà Winery

Cantine Fina's Syrah is a red wine made from the noble French grape variety native to the Rhone Valley, which has now found a second home in Sicily. Thanks to the sunny and ventilated climate of the Marsala area, this grape expresses itself at excellent levels of quality, with a warm and Mediterranean profile, enveloping and rich, a typical expression of the characteristics of the terroir. Ageing in wood allows for a complete aromatic evolution, which softens its bubbling tannins and proposes an intense, rich and fascinating taste spectrum, with a savoury and marine touch typical of its terroir of origin. It is a perfect red to pair with roasted red meats, grilled meats or game.Cantine Fina Syrah is now considered in Sicily as an indigenous grape variety, so familiar is its historical presence on the island. Together with the Cortona area, it is Sicily that produces the most interesting Italian versions of this fascinating wine, which in the best versions offers a spectrum of aromas ranging from floral to fruity to spicy, with a multifaceted and seductive complexity. Cantina fina cultivates its vineyards to the north of Marsala, in the first belt of the hinterland, which rises inland from the coastline of the salt pans and the Nature Reserve of the Stagnone Islands. The estate covers about 50 hectares, which have an ancient baglio as their beating heart. The climate and suitable land make this corner of western Sicily an ideal place for growing vines. The vineyards are located in a natural environment rich in biodiversity and are farmed organically, using only sulphur and copper. The winery's philosophy is to produce wines with a typically territorial, Mediterranean and marine face. The Syrah wine of the Sicilian winery Fina is an interesting interpretation of this ancient French grape variety, which in its Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage homeland gives reds of extraordinary finesse and elegance. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels. In the glass, it has a dark ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet recalls nuances of violets, aromas of blackberry, currants and dark berry fruit, hints of underbrush, hints of bitter cocoa and spices. The palate is structured, with a dense tannic texture and rich, ripe fruit. The finish is long and harmonious, closing on spicy notes and black pepper.
