Merlot - Cantina Finà

In Italy, Merlot has found ideal environmental conditions in many northern regions, but it is now widespread with truly surprising results in Sicily as well, precisely because Merlot, in adapting to this sun-drenched climate, shows another aspect of its versatile personality, with warmer, spicier flavours.The grapes used for the production of this wine are grown in the western part of Sicily, at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level. Fermentation and the first part of ageing take place in steel; the last twelve months of maturation, however, are carried out in barriques. Intense ruby red colour with purple highlights, it has scents reminiscent of blackcurrants and ripe plums, with hints of pepper and blueberries. The taste is rich and round, with soft, smooth tannins.
