Don Papa rum is inspired by the story of one of the heroes of Philippine independence: Dionisio Magbuelas, better known as 'Papa Isio'. A former foreman on a sugar cane plantation, he distinguished himself for his spirit of independence and sense of justice, which were the main cornerstones of the 19th century revolutionary movement that came to fruition with the liberation from Spanish rule.Don Papa Rye Agedis a limited edition rum that thus combines all the rich, sweet character of Filipino rum with the magic and poetry of the American Prohibition era. In the United States of the 1920s, in fact, most of the whiskeys produced were Rye, i.e. distillates with a predominantly rye base.Don Papa Rye Aged Rum is the result of the union between the green fields of rye in the United States and the fresh sea breeze of the Philippines, a mix that gives the distillate the characteristic sweet notes of molasses, but also the spicy, vegetal and intense hints of ageing, carried out in ex-American Rye Whisky barrels.
