Amaro Florio is an infusion of thirteen herbs including roots, spices and citrus peels, perfect to end an excellent meal or for a moment of pleasant relaxation. It is called Elisir della Compagnia (Company's Elixir) precisely because for many years it was reserved only for the use of the Florios' fleet that transported colonial goods and spices from the Far East.Amaro is a typical Sicilian bitter from the Florio cellars that originates from an ancient seafaring vocation. From the infusion of these spices with Sicilian citrus fruits, the Florios created Amaro, which soon became popular among the crews for its digestive effects. The secret recipe calls for an infusion of 13 herbs including roots, citrus peels and spices, aged in wood for at least 18 months. A bitter with the characteristic scent of bitter orange peel, it is therefore a liqueur with a strongly Mediterranean soul and a pronounced character.Cantine Florio is one of the oldest wineries in Sicily, particularly famous for the production of Marsala wine. It was founded in 1833 in Marsala by entrepreneur Vincenzo Florio who, after buying a piece of land on a stretch of beach located between the Ingham-Whitaker and Woodhouse beams, had a factory built there for the production of Marsala wine.
