he Don Papa Masskara is inspired by the colourful MassKara Festival, a Filipino festival that takes place every year on the fourth Sunday of October in Bacolod. The name of the desta comes from the union of two words: 'mass', meaning 'many', and 'kara', meaning 'faces'. The participants all wear a smiling mask, sing and dance, to banish negativity and celebrate life.Don Papa rum combines the positive attitude typical of the Filipino population with their more revolutionary spirit, the one inherited from the famous hero Papa Isio, who dedicated his life to the fight for his country's independence.Don Papa Masskara has aromas and flavours typical of the Asian continent, thanks to the infusion of local ingredients in the base alcohol. These include: calamondin, also called calamansi, a small lemon that gives the distillate a powerful and acidic touch; local honey, which gives sweetness; and the siling labuyo chilli, which gives a spicy note.
